Canon unveils a photography exhibition with restricted access

Canon and RNIB Partner to Create Accessible and Immersive Photography Exhibition for Visually Impaired People

Canon’s World Unseen exhibition is breaking barriers and creating a new way for visually impaired individuals to experience photography. This immersive experience, developed in partnership with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), is designed to be accessible to all, regardless of visual ability.

The exhibition features a unique combination of soundscapes, audio descriptions, braille, and raised photographic prints from renowned photographers, allowing visitors to engage with the art through touch and sound. By replicating different types of visual impairments, such as glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy, the exhibition also aims to raise awareness and generate empathy for the challenges faced by those with partial or no vision.

Canon’s commitment to inclusivity extends beyond the exhibition, with a video series featuring partially sighted individuals sharing their experiences and insights. This initiative not only showcases the power of photography as a medium but also highlights the importance of accessibility in the arts.

The World Unseen exhibition will be held at Somerset House in London from April 05-07, 2024, offering a unique opportunity for visitors to engage with photography in a new and meaningful way. Tickets are available on the Somerset House website, and with the innovative printing techniques used by Canon, this exhibition promises to be a truly transformative experience.

As we celebrate the intersection of technology and art, Canon’s World Unseen exhibition serves as a reminder of the power of inclusivity and the ability of photography to transcend barriers. Join us in experiencing this groundbreaking exhibition and exploring the world of photography in a whole new light.
